The European Federation for Freshwater Sciences
About EFFS
The European Federation for Freshwater Sciences (EFFS) is a prominent scientific organization dedicated to advancing the study and management of freshwater ecosystems across Europe. Founded to enhance collaboration among European freshwater scientists, EFFS coordinates activities that promote innovative research, education, and policy-making in the field of freshwater sciences. EFFS was established following the success of the early Symposia for European Freshwater Sciences (SEFS), with the aim of creating a formal platform for continuous cooperation. It brings together thousands of scientists from 17 national societies, fostering a community that supports young researchers and facilitates the dissemination of scientific knowledge through conferences, publications, and an electronic newsletter. EFFS also awards prizes to outstanding students and researchers, encouraging excellence and innovation in freshwater science. For more information, you can visit their official website.
